Under Armour Athlete Looks To Defend OUTsurance Gun Run Title

The OUTsurance Gun Run is back, and Under Armour’s former Olympian Khoarahlane Seutloali is returning to defend his title after a successful 2025. The global sportswear icon is also sponsoring up-and-coming contender Tsepo Ramashamole and giving runners an all-new, dedicated recovery experience for tired legs.

With fitness enthusiasts once again taking to the coastal roads of the Atlantic Seaboard for a fast-paced, scenic race challenged by some of Africa’s finest athletes, there’s lots to take in at this year’s Gun Run. Here’s everything runners and viewers need to know.

Under Armour Athletes at The 2026 Gun Run

The biggest storyline for South African running fans is undoubtedly the return of Khoarahlane Seutloali, last year’s champion and the current course record holder. The Lesotho-born long-distance runner is one of the hottest names in African athletics, winning the Two Oceans Marathon and Soweto Marathon in 2025 and representing his home country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Seutloali’s record-breaking 2025, with three major victories in Cape Town’s running circuit, was achieved in Under Armour’s Velociti Elite 3s, the company’s latest world-class road running shoe.

Seutloali is joined by rising star and fellow Under Armour athlete Tsepo Ramashamole, another Mosotho runner ranked 512th in men’s road running, who ran 02:23:16 in this year’s Two Oceans, with a personal half-marathon best of 1:02.30. His other accomplishments include competing in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and winning the 2025 editions of the Pirates 21k, Kimberley Half-Marathon, and the Bhekizizwe Joseph Shabalala Marathon.

Both of Under Armour’s challengers are looking to take the win this weekend, with Ramashamole hoping for a statement victory and Seutloali looking to cement his legacy as a Gun Run great.

Luxury Recovery Facilities with Hotel Armouré

After crossing the finish line, participants, including Seutloali and Ramashamole, can head to the race village for treatment at Hotel Armouré, Under Armour’s premium recovery facility designed especially for the Gun Run. 10km and half-marathon runners can expect access to recovery boots, sports massages, ice baths, and expert guidance from fitness professionals, operating throughout the weekend.

Bringing Under Armour’s fictional five-star hotel for the world’s best athletes and viral influencers into the real world, the recovery facilities allow Cape Town’s athletes to get the care they need after a gruelling race up and down the Atlantic Seaboard. The new Gun Run addition is part of the brand’s ‘Rest Less’ campaign, a high-production, social-first series of videos showing off Under Armour’s elite roster of footballers and content creators. Now, for the first time in Cape Town, it’s real and is helping runners recover safely from the 2026 Gun Run.

As usual, runners take part in a range of races, from the brisk 5km and family-friendly pet walk to the challenging 10km and the headline half-marathon. The detailed routes for each run are available online. Entries are now closed, with runners and walkers training for the events on Saturday and Sunday.

Runners can pick up their Gun Run numbers and equipment from selected Sportsmans Warehouses across Cape Town from Thursday (10 Sept) to Saturday (12 Sept). Anyone moving around the city should note the expected road closures, which are available on the website.

While Cape Town’s dedicated athletes try their best to get a personal best or compete for the win, families and friends are encouraged to cheer on their loved ones along the route. All races finish on the Green Point Common, with food stalls, a kiddies play area, and family-friendly fun for everyone.
